Another clear application for product animations of a technical nature, can be seen in this project with Fuji Xerox.   Featuring and industrial level printer, certain functions and features of the printer are not practical for video filming such as having to open up and dismantle the printer.  As such, 3D animation helped with conveying these client USPs to their customers in a much more practical manner and also maintaining a good level of aesthetics.
